eGO Bike: Reinventing Wheels

Support

The discussion of road legality, registration, and operator requirements is quite complex as it involves knowledge of the federal regulations, state regulations, and local enforcement. This section includes a collection of local laws that may be relevant to you.

The eGO Cycle was designed to meet the DOT/NHTSA (Department of Transportation / National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) requirements for ‘motor driven cycle.’ Meeting those safety and equipment requirements allows us to affix each eGO Cycle with a Vehicle Identification number (VIN). A VIN is what you need to insure and register your eGO Cycle with your state motor vehicle department.

However, each state establishes its own requirements for registration and operation. Look below for a summary of the laws in your state.

We encourage you to learn and comply with your local laws before operating an eGO. If you don’t know the exact laws in your state, the operator of an eGO should have a driver’s license (motorcycle license not required), wear a helmet, and operate the eGO as if it were a motorcycle. You can take comfort that the eGO CAN be registered if need be.

BIG DISCLAIMER:
Although we do add to this list and update documents from time to time, we do not guarantee that the information in this section is complete or true. If you want to know FOR SURE the exact treatment of the eGO Cycle in your jurisdiction, please consult your local police and your state codebooks. Laws change frequently, and we do not monitor these laws in every state and we do not update this database regularly.
